4.1. Methodological overview

  • The methodology followed in this course is oriented towards the achievement of the learning objectives. 
  • Students are expected to participate actively in the class throughout the semester.
  • Further information regarding the course will be provided on the first day of class.

4.2. Learning tasks

  • Theoretical lectures.
  • Practical lectures.
  • Individual work.
  • Personal study.
  • Assessment activities.

4.3. Syllabus

The course will address the following topics:

I. Main philological sources for the study of Classical Antiquity.

II. Production, distribution and reception of texts in Antiquity.

III. The critical edition.

IV. The text as a source: from textual criticism to hermeneutics.

V. The text as a source: typology, nature and use.

VI. The text as a source: cultural approaches.
